Meet the wedding party
-
Camille Morgan, Maid of Honor
Camille is Rebecca’s oldest friend. They met in kindergarten and remained close friends through elementary, middle, and high school. They even got to spend three years of college together after Rebecca transferred schools. Rebecca couldn’t imagine having anyone else as her dual Maid of Honor as Camille is great at planning things, especially high school reunions.
-
Catherine Bradley, Maid of Honor
Catherine and Rebecca met playing basketball in middle school and despite walking home from school every day together for two years, didn’t become real friends until high school. After college, they both moved back home, coached together in the same rec league they met in, drank an unhealthy amount of slurpees, and watched way too much of the Bachelor franchise.
-
John Horton, Best Man
Back in the day, Richard was a new seventh grader in a school that started in sixth grade. In one particular class, he was matched with Horton for an assignment. As the teacher explained, the veteran student was supposed to interview the new student and then present to the class. After about 20 minutes of talking, the only thing Horton had to say was, “ugh I think he likes vampires or something.” Despite that incredible introduction, the two became friends and remain so to this day thanks mostly to their ability to talk about anything and the fact that they survived the Andray Blatche era of the Wizards.
-
Little Dude and Malarkey, Best Cats
They’ve already RSVPed as not attending — something about needing a night to cat nip and chill — but it wouldn’t be Richard and Rebecca’s wedding without mentioning their Best Cats, Little Dude (LD) and Malarkey. Richard quickly took in LD as Rebecca and he were a package deal, but LD has yet to warm to his new father-figure. Malarkey is a a newer addition to the family and loves getting on everyone’s nerves at 5 a.m.
-
Maggie Trahan, Bridesmaid
Maggie and Rebecca met in Mineralogy class at the University of Mary Washington and quickly became friends that shared a passion for rocks and a love for Professor Neil Tibert (RIP you beautiful Canadian). They went on to live in Geology House together their senior year and throw the most rockin' parties.
-
Katy Chase, Bridesmaid
Katy and Rebecca met in environmental science classes in college and became fast friends much to the chagrin of the professors. You could always find them on a Thursday night with Taylor Bono burning up the dance floor at Brock’s after struggling to pass chemistry class together.
-
Jill Branby, Bridesmaid
Rebecca and Jill met while both serving as very underpaid fellows at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). They quickly bonded over being two of the best-dressed people at the EPA (thanks J. Crew), and learned they both also love geology, the outdoors, local breweries, and any excuse to wear stripes.
-
Christian Boehler, Groomsman
Boehler and Richard grew up less than a mile apart. Despite the proximity, things were not always the smoothest as they often represented rival soccer teams on the youth level. The two once nearly came to blows during an intense fourth-grade kickball game even though they were on the same squad. Over the years, Boehler and Richard grew to be great friends. A key driver was the fact that Richard can’t drive, and Boehler spends most of his life in a car. In many ways it was a natural fit. Richard had never moved without Boehler’s assistance until this past July.
-
Jacob "Tex" Moriarty-Stone, Groomsman
To this day Jacob denies that he gave himself the nickname “Tex.” When first introduced to Richard in college, he presented himself as “Tex” thus the case is closed. Despite being on the wrong side of the Cowboys vs. WFT rivalry and once forcing Richard to sleep in a smoking room at a Knight’s Inn in rural Kentucky, Jacob remains one of Richard’s most loyal friends. As a true Texan, he once cussed out the Carroll County Democratic Party Chairwoman for saying something less than flattering about his home state.
-
Roarke Katherman, Groomsman
Roarke holds the distinction of being the only roommate Richard has ever had that is still in regular contact (unless you count Rebecca). While the two did not start college as roommates, they decided to make it happen during sophomore year. Of course, they did not tell anyone about this move and simply moved Richard’s roommate’s belongings into the hall and filled everyone else in later. That may not have been the best move, but it exemplifies the fact that when these two get together anything is possible.
-
John Buhl, Groomsman
In many ways Buhl is the Walter White to Richard’s Jesse Pinkman without the sociopathy and illegal activity. The two actually met remotely, before it was cool, while working together on a website. The two eventually realized they were both D.C. area folks and have been friends ever since. Buhl has gotten Richard multiple job interviews over the years, and even though he has never secured one of the jobs, he remains a personal and professional mentor.
